In July our school became linked with St Kizito Kijaguzo Primary School, which is is the Nakaseke District of Uganda, Africa. We have sent St Kizito a profile of Hilltop Infant School, along with letters from the children.
Children have been learning about Uganda is class and in assemblies. Actvities have included tasting Ugandan meals, fruit and tea, learning about fairtrade, taking part in an African drumming workshop, African crafts and stories. One of our governors, Rosemarie Lunn, who lived in Kenya until the age of 16, came in to share stories from Uganda.
These activities, along with our other international work, has led to our school being awarded the intermediate level in the International Schools Award. We hope to receive the full award soon and also to achieve fair trade status for our school.
